Inside the Folds

Today I realized that I had to build some sort of a mini "architecture" for one of my classes. Architecture was loosely defined as something that a marble could make a home in. I figured I should probably be more creative then rolling up a piece of paper and putting another one flat on top and calling it an Indian hut so I Google'd origami architecture and set out on a search. As amazing as I truly am, I decided that something like this was out of the question..

So I went to a children's how to origami web site. At first I went with an origami cup that looked something like this. I was going to flip it upside down and call it an Indian hut,

But I came to the conclusion that my poor Indian marble would get cold and rained on in this pathetic excuse for a home so I settled on a box with a lid! I found an oddly extreme amount of satisfaction in folding these awesome animal printed papers into a box and a lid!

I was also very pleased that the lid actually fit. Look at me go!!!

With Tears in Our Eyes

"Tears came to his eyes and I tried to comfort him. Then there was something else to do-to make my will:

'Listen, Otto, if I don't get back home to my wife, and if you should see her again, tell her I talked of her daily, hourly. You remember. Secondly, I have loved her more then anyone. Thirdly, the short time we have been married to her outweighs everything, even all we have gone through here.'

Otto, where are you now? Are you alive? What has happened to you since our last hour together? Did you find your wife again? And do you remember how I made you learn my will by heart-word for word-in spite of your childlike tears?"
-Man's Search For Meaning Viktor E. Frankl (copywrite 2006 Pg 55)

Not many books I have read recently have been able get me to tear up, let alone let my tears come out freely as if I were a child. This excerpt from Man's Search for Meaning made me bawl like a little girl. Viktor is almost sure that he is being sent off to be killed when he tells his dear friend these things about his wife.

This book has many tender, touching moments in it, I believe it has forever changed my life.

In the Life of Me

I went to school early today so that I could get my reading that I should have had done yesterday done while I was waiting for class to start. Instead of doing that, I did all sorts of worthless things. I read the family email from Trevor for the week, did who knows what on facebook, I read some peoples blogs that I am following, and then preceded to flip through random blogs of people I don't know until I realized it was 3 minutes before my class started and I had not even taken my textbook out of my bag. I walked to class somewhat stressed and kicking myself for being so easily entertained by random small shiny things. When I walked up to the door, there was that very large sign that all students long to see. Class Canceled. Lesson learned :).

Fear of Performance

I was sitting in one of my classes the other day talking about art, and my teacher said something that really struck me. She said that in our society, so many people to not express themselves because they are afraid of what others might think of their work. This causes all sorts of problems for us as individuals. And I got to thinking, why do we care so much what other people think of our individual ways of expressing ourselves? This has been my biggest problem with blogging in general. I worry about what other people think of what I write. I want so desperately for people to like it that I stare at the screen, try and think of something great to say, close my computer and walk away feeling like a failer anyway. So this is my goal. To express myself, not thinking of you at all (not that your not important). My goal is to write what I think.

Twilight-a-thon

So I have tried really hard not to be one of those typical Twilight obsessed teenage girls that everyone mocks, and I feel as though I have done a pretty good job at hiding my secret obsession from the rest of the world but I have to admit that when it gets really down to it, I truly love them!!!

Just last night I had a Twilight marathon with my aunt where we watched all three movies until almost 5 in the morning and I actually stayed awake until about half way through the third one, but don't you worry, I woke up in time to watch the awesome fight scene at the end. This is truly incredible because, as anyone who has watched movies with me after 11 PM would know, it is quite impossible for me to stay awake for any movie, no matter how action packed!

In my attempt to keep myself a normal, non-twihard, I've limited myself to reading each book only once, even though I spent over $100 to make sure I owned them all in hard back, and they have a very designated place in a shelf all there own. I have aloud myself to go see each movie at the midnight showing, which I am very excited for for the next movie, despite the fact that I try my hardest just to roll my eyes at my friends who squeal just a little when they see Taylor Lautner appear for the first time on the screen. I have officially decided, after my twilight night with my aunt, that I must read the books again, and I know I'm going to love them, and be equally disgusted at myself for loving it as much as I do.

Popcorn Popping

So I recently started going to the singles ward, and as much as I hate to admit it, the movie (although a little bit extreme) is not too very far off. My mom always said that there is a reason that stereotypes are what they are, and a part of me wants to argue with that but after experiencing it, I hate to say that it truly is with the Singles Ward. In honor of that, and because I LOVE this video clip and this version of this song I have decided to share it. :)
